Pupils are encouraged to enjoy dancing at all levels and at the same time, to gain both confidence and discipline in their work.
From Primary upwards, as well as basic ballet, the syllabus encourages an understanding of music, an introduction to mime and national dance, a knowledge of French terms and above all, an ability to respond quickly and intelligently to questions and instructions.
Although not compulsory, pupils are encouraged to enter the Imperial Society of Teachers of Dancing Examinations, which equips them to study more advanced work. We expect to achieve excellent examination results annually.
Some day schools now offer GCSE ballet, and after successfully completing the Grade Examinations, it is possible to proceed to college to train as a professional dancer or study for a Degree in Dance combined with an academic subject.
Even Teddy Bears love ballet as it keeps them fit & healthy!
